The Strategy Division plays a critical role in policy formulation, organisational analysis, strategic growth analysis of the economy and media engagement within the Treasury Department. It consists of four branches, each with specific functions and responsibilities.
- Strategic Growth Branch: This branch is responsible for facilitating and conducting analysis on medium to long-term issues that will impact Papua New Guinea’s growth and development. It focuses on strategic planning and provides valuable insights to shape the country’s economic trajectory.
- Ministerial Committees Branch: The main objective of this branch is to provide policy advice to the Chairpersons of various Treasury Ministerial Committees. It offers expertise on economic policies, budget processes, and procedures, supporting informed NEC decision-making within these committees.
- Organisational Branch: This branch undertakes medium to long-term strategic analysis and provides advice on the department’s needs. By assessing and understanding the requirements of the Treasury Department, it assists in ensuring efficient and effective delivery of Treasury priorities and objectives.
- Parliament, Media & Public Relations: This branch is responsible for managing media services for the department and the Office of the Treasurer. It aims to shape public perception regarding the economy, government policies, and the department’s reputation. It actively engages with the media and the public to effectively communicate Treasury’s initiatives and objectives.
Through these branches, the Strategy Division contributes to informed decision-making, efficient organisational management, and effective communication with the public. By conducting strategic analyses and providing policy advice, the division supports the Treasury Department in achieving its priorities and objectives for the economic development of Papua New Guinea.
